Art Optical Contact Lens, Inc., is pleased to announce the selection of Chad Moens, Contact Lens Production Specialist, as their 2008 Associate of the Year.
Moens began his career at Art Optical in 1992 as a lab technician. Through the years he has worked to become a versatile, accomplished, and valued associate. For the last several years, Chad has been a key player in the GP lathing area, where he could be counted on to assure proper lathe set-up and produce top quality product on a consistent basis.
When Art Optical announced intentions to expand into custom soft lens manufacturing, Chad quickly requested a meeting with supervision and asked to be involved in the exciting new venture. As the soft lens project came to completion, Chad’s enthusiasm grew. Eager to learn, he faced the unknown fearlessly and his initiative did not go unnoticed.
According to Dave Freyling, Art Optical’s Technical Process Manager, having Chad’s experience and ambition behind the new Intelliwave® product line was integral to its successful introduction. However, Freyling also noted that initially, he was keenly aware of Chad’s absence in the GP lab. “That says a lot about the depth of his talent and ability,” Freyling continued. “Now, because he can custom craft lenses on both levels, he’s even more valuable to the company. We’re glad to have him on board.”
Moens was nominated from a pool of 80-plus associates and unanimously selected by the Art Optical management team as this year’s winner. The award was presented at the company’s annual year-end meeting.
