Art Optical Awards Specialty Contact Lens Travel Grants at Global Specialty Lens Symposium

Grand Rapids, MI – Art Optical Contact Lens, Inc., a leading provider of custom contact lenses, in partnership with Contamac, recently awarded $750 Specialty Contact Lens Travel Grants to three deserving individuals to facilitate their attendance at the recent Global Specialty Lens Meeting in Las Vegas.

In the New OD Category, Dr. Alia Cappellani from Mission Eye Care Centre for Dry Eye and Corneal Disease in Calgary, AB, was recognized with a grant for her case report discussing the use of Renovation® Bi-toric Multifocal lenses for a Patient with Oculocutaneous Albinism.

In the student category, third year students Riley Parker and Tania Styma from Michigan College of Optometry were each awarded a grant for their case reports. Ms. Parker presented a case on the use of MOONLENS® Ortho-K lenses to correct the non-compliant soft lens wearer; and Ms. Styma presented a case on the use of Ampleye® scleral lenses in a patient with Sjogren’s Syndrome and a history of herpes simplex infection.

The grant winners and their cases were highlighted in the Art Optical exhibit, showcasing the benefits of custom contact lenses for patients presenting with unique clinical conditions.

As dedicated supporters of optometric education, Art Optical and Contamac are pleased to present the travel grant opportunity to students, residents and young OD’s interested in specialty contact lens practice. Initiated in 2022, Art Optical has now recognized and rewarded 9 individuals with travel grants. Past winners and their submissions, as well as additional qualification details and grant applications, can be reviewed at www.artoptical.com/travelgrant. Those with advanced interest in specialty contact lenses are encouraged to apply for a travel grant to attend one of the remaining professional contact lens meetings in 2024.
